Study highlights exercise physiologists’ key role in proactive care
A very interesting 16-year study has just been published by the New England Journal of Medicine. It outlines the essential role that Exercise Physiologists play in post colon cancer treatment.
In response to the new study, CEO of ESSA (Danielle Smith) said that “structured exercise is a powerful, cost-effective tool that complements medical treatment and significantly improves both physical and mental health outcomes in colon cancer patients.
“In Australia, Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are experts in prescribing and supervising structured exercise programs for people living with cancer and other chronic conditions.
“The findings of this study show that these type of exercise programs can reduce the risk of cancer recurring, which ultimately improves survival rates.”
